This year’s cocktails run the gamut from whiskey to rum to gin to a couple of specialty liqueurs. I was super diligent with my photography this year so I’m pleased to be able to bring you higher quality photos than I have in years past. It took a little more time, but I was able to get it done well!
And without further delay – my favorite cocktails at this year’s Tales of the Cocktail…
Down The Bayou
- Primary Liquor – Bayou Rum’s Bayou Spiced Rum
- Ingredients – Bayou Spiced Rum, Blackberry Sage Syrup by Locally Preserved, orange juice, pineapple juice, ginger ale
- Why I loved it – While I am a huge fan of rum, I’m not always keen on spiced rum. It has its place in the pantheon of rum, and in this cocktail is one of those hallowed places. The spicy flavor was well-balanced by the sweeter and more acidic components of this drink. Ian Julian, the creator of this cocktail, told me that regular rum would substitute well here (no surprise). And while the drink was sweet, I didn’t find it to be overwhelmingly so. This drink was one of the first I tried at this year’s Tales, and clearly, it was memorable. I could drink this all summer, for sure.
